Components, Field definitions
1. Component Name appears on traveler invoices. As you type, the combo box displays a list of all components ever entered in your database. Components like "Single Supplement", that appear often, are easily retrievable.
2. Price Per Person is the component cost and should be entered per person no matter what the component. Therefore for an extra hotel night, you will likely enter a component as "Extra hotel night, double occupancy" and again as "Extra hotel night, single occupancy." This may seem redundant but it works well for two reasons. First, the invoice calculates the cost and includes "per person" in its description. Second, when you are tracking your hotel rooms, knowing you have 10 people in double rooms tells you to reserve 5 rooms; the "count" has more meaning if it is always tracked per person.
3. Brief Name is an abbreviated version of the Tour Component for use on the Tour Component Overview Report, which is a compact tabular format.
4. Sort refers to the order that the components will appear on the invoice and other reports. For instance, you would want Land and Air to appear before Air Upgrade.
FNote: When you enter the Sort number, use whole numbers 1 through 10. Later, if you add a Component you can use a decimal to insert it where you want within the list. This saves users from having to re-number the entire list.
5. Notes: this memo field stores details about the component for your own reference. It does not appear on the invoice.
6. Component type: this field allows you to tag components by type for use in custom reports.
